MIAGAO PARISH JUBILEE DOOR OPENED

The Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish, Miagao, Iloilo is one of the seven Jubilee churches in the Archdiocese of Jaro. On April 14 at 4:30PM, the Porta Sancta of the Parish Church was opened at 4:30PM. The Opening Rites was officiated by Rev. Fr. Bernabe Tutana, the Vicar Forane of the Vicariate of Sts. Philip and James, in behalf of Archbishop Jose Romeo Lazo.

It was then followed by a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Tutana along with other concelebrating priests, Rev. Fr. Nonito Pelobello (Cubay Parish), Rev. Fr. Joel Rudi (San Jose), Rev. Fr. Michael Nievales (Opus Dei, Miagaowanon priest), Rev. Fr. Jose Ma. Enrique Evidente (Parochial Vicar). The Parishioners, different religious organizations, and guests from other Parishes within the Vicariate joined and participated, and those who were not able to attend also witnessed this joyous celebration through livestream.

The Porta Sancta of Miagao Parish was the sixth door opened in the Archdiocese of Jaro after the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles (Jaro Cathedral), Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish Church (Estancia, Iloilo), Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostle Parish Church (Barotac Viejo, Iloilo), St. Augustine Parish Church (Dumangas, Iloilo), and Patronage of St. Joseph Parish Church (Pototan, Iloilo). The seventh door to be opened will be the St. Isidore Parish Church (Navalas, Buenavista, Guimaras).
